Sandwiched between boozy Friday nights and indulgent Sunday brunches, Saturdays often get overlooked. While you’ll be spoilt for choices on a Sunday afternoon, Saturday brunches are still a new phenomenon in the city. The latest entrant is Trident Hyderabad’s Amara. For its Saturday Brunches, Amara is dishing out the massive spread that its known for, but with a twist.
Each week, the Amara Saturday Brunch will be fashioned around a distinctive theme. I was invited to the inaugural edition of ‘Brunchalicous Saturday’ whose theme was ‘Back to School’. The brunch was not just for the kids, but was an open invitation for everyone to reconnect with their childhood and be kids for a day. I was immediately pulled towards the vibrant and intriguing desserts counter featuring colourful cakes, muffins, and candies. The desserts packed with nostalgia for the 90’s kids – from Kismi Bar to Magic Pops and Phantom Sweet Cigarettes. Cheesecakes had been fashioned into colourful, diminutive books, Macaroons into lollies, and Cakes into Slate and Pencil. The starters and mains were packed with a tempting array of street food and popular after school snacks like Maggi, Momo, and Chaat.
The Amara Saturday Brunch is priced at Rs. 2426 (all inclusive, alcohol included). Chef Manik Mangotra promised to keep things interesting through fun new concepts every week. Some of the other themes explored so far include ‘Wonders of the World’ and ‘Circus Carnival’. The Brunchalicous Saturday at Amara promises to fill your Saturdays with enjoyment, frolic and surprises.
