ReliDeli is a food-delivery platform with a twist. The meals offered by ReliDeli don’t come from a restaurant or a professional kitchen. Instead they are sourced from the kitchen’s of home cooks who have signed up with the platform. The Chef’s on the platform are from different regions of India and ReliDeli promises to deliver a homely, authentic meal for everyone.

Last week, I was sent a couple of samples by ReliDeli. Both the dishes I was served were prepared by their South Indian Chef Padma Reddy D. The vegeterian meal had Aloo Vankaya with Pappu charu, Rice, and Papad, while the non-vegeterian meal had Andhra Kodi Kura, Sambar, two phulkas and rice. Aloo Vankaya, which is a very humble, homely gravy prepared from Potato and Brinjals, was absolutely delicious. The Pappu Charu was a tad too bland even for a Pappu Charu. I would personally prefer a slightly stronger seasoning. The Papads were way too salty and almost inedible. Although the veg meal was a bit of a mixed bag, I loved the non-veg meal. The spicy Andhra Kodi Kura left me wanting more, and even the Sambar was fantastic. The chapatis, however, could have been softer.

ReliDeli delivered on its promise of offering homely meals. None of the dishes had excess oil, and all of them felt lighter and healthier than restaurant delivered dishes. Most meals in ReliDeli are priced between Rs. 150 and Rs. 200. The portion sizes are quite generous and two portions should suffice for three people. Conceptually, ReliDeli is identical to Kitchen’s Food, which has been offering home-cooked meals for over a year. Unlike Kitchen’s Food, which delivers across most of Hyderabad, ReliDeli is currently limited to the Kondapur – Gachhibowli – Jubile Hills region. The daily menu is also significantly smaller than that of Kitchen’s Food. However, I am hoping that this tighter focus will translate into better consistency for ReliDeli.
