Earlier this month, Habanero Hyderabad celebrated International Music Day with a special gig and a special deal. The International Music Day was initiated by UNESCO’s International Music Council (IMC), but has been overshadowed in the recent years by the more popular Fête de la Musique or World Music Day. While the latter is celebrated on 21st June, the IMD falls on October 1st. Habanero had invited Rock Station who played a blend of old and new through the night – from Classic Rock favourites to Reggae and Pop to Country and Blues.
I was invited to experience the celebrations and was offered a blend of favourites from Habanero’s old menu as well as a few samplers from their new menu. We started off with Tortilla Chips paired with an absolutely delicious Black Bean Hummus. The Mexican Pizza was decent , but I relished the Chicken Burrito – a classical preparation with chunks of Grilled Chicken, Beans, and Rice. The Peri-Peri grill is a new introduction that’s available in a choice of chicken, fish, or beef. We tried the Steak. The sweet and spicy Peri-Peri sauce is absolutely fab and I had loved the Peri-Peri Chicken and Fish. The steak, however, wasn’t quite to my liking. Tad overcooked, like most steaks in Hyderabad. While Habanero offers its own unique mix of cocktails, I settled for the Sangria. The Sangria turned out to be a pleasant surprise, and was among the better ones I’ve had in the recent past. We finished off the meal with a pretty decent Lime Cheesecake and some fabulous Churros.
